One material, both sides, nothing on the metal: the board with the shortest ingredients list in the category.

Before you buy any "plastic-free" cutting board, flip it over. On most of them the other side is polypropylene marketed as "wheat straw". A plastic cutting surface bolted to the board you bought to stop cutting on plastic, and the reason most of them can't go in the dishwasher either. This one has nothing to hide on either side. The whole board is 100% Grade 1 Japanese commercially pure titanium. No polymer back, no coating, no treatment, because there is nothing on the metal at all.

There are also no grooves to develop. Titanium is non-porous, so nothing soaks in: juice and odor sit on top and rinse away, garlic doesn't follow the strawberries, and raw chicken washes off completely. Straight into the dishwasher afterwards, because there is no plastic side to warp.

Why you'll love it:

  • No plastic, either side: no polypropylene back, no "wheat straw" costume, one material only
  • Non-porous: nothing soaks in, nothing harbors in a groove, odors rinse away
  • Nothing that wears or flakes: no coating and no polymer layer, so there is nothing to shed
  • Dishwasher safe: the promise holds because there is no plastic on the board to break it
  • Said precisely: the research measured particles shedding from plastic boards; what those particles do is still being studied. We claim composition, not outcomes. What that's worth is your call, which is exactly how it should be.

Available in four sizes from S to XL, or as a full bundle. Backed by a lifetime warranty covering the cutting surface, because the surface is the board.

Does it Dull Knives?

Yes, a little faster than end grain wood. We would rather say so than have you find out.

Titanium is much softer than your blade. Grade 1 sits around 120 on the Vickers scale and knife steel is 550 to 650, so it cannot grind your edge away the way glass or ceramic can. What it does is refuse to give. Wood parts under a blade and closes again behind it. Titanium stays put, so the edge rolls sooner.

Rolled is not blunt. Ten seconds on a honing rod, once a week, puts it back. Honing removes no metal, unlike sharpening, which you will still only need a few times a year.

In exchange: nothing to oil or reseal, no hand washing, no knife grooves to scrub out, no warping or staining, and no replacing it in two years. It goes in the dishwasher.

One honest trade, and we think it is the good side of it.

Why is it Worth The Money?

Our titanium board represents a one-time investment in your kitchen's future.

Unlike traditional boards that need frequent replacement due to warping, bacteria buildup, or wear, our board maintains its pristine condition for life while protecting your family's health through its naturally inert, bacteria-resistant surface.

Products are really great.

Products are really great. Bought pans and cutting boards from there. Cleaning is very easy and quick and also without any traces of plastic or bacteria. I am going to remain healthy always with these products.

The problem

Flip your "plastic-free" board over

On most "titanium" boards the other side is polypropylene dressed up as "wheat straw". The plastic you paid to leave, bolted to the back.

The grooves were the problem

The grooves were the problem

Every knife stroke on a plastic board opens another line. Juices sit in the grooves, and every cut across an old groove takes a little of the board with it. That is why you left plastic in the first place.

"Wheat straw" is polypropylene

"Wheat straw" is polypropylene

It photographs like a natural material and it is marketed like one, but it is plastic with plant filler, and it cuts like plastic. Buyers find out from the reviews: the soft side cuts easily, and pieces of it end up in the food.

The dishwasher tells the truth

The dishwasher tells the truth

Check the care label on any board with a "wheat straw" back: hand wash only. The metal side would be fine. The plastic side warps. The weakest material sets the rules for the whole board.

THE SOLUTION

One material. That's the entire list.

No polymer back, no coating, no second material hiding underneath. Here is what the board is made of, why nothing soaks in, and exactly what we do and do not claim.

Titanium on both sides
Flip this board and you find the same metal. Both cutting surfaces are solid 100% Grade 1 commercially pure titanium, with no polymer layer and nothing bonded on. The decision you made to stop cutting on plastic holds on either side.
Non-porous, so nothing moves in
Titanium does not absorb. Juice and odor sit on top and rinse away in seconds, garlic does not follow the strawberries, and raw chicken washes off completely. No grooves open up, because there is no soft layer to carve.
Said precisely: composition, not outcomes
The research on plastic boards measured particles shedding into food during chopping. What those particles do is still being studied, and we will not claim otherwise. We claim composition: no plastic in the cutting surface, on either side. What that is worth is your call, which is exactly how it should be.
Handcrafted in Japan
Every Gonest board is handcrafted in Japan, home of the world's most demanding titanium industry. The Japanese supply the aerospace and medical fields, where purity and precision are pass-fail requirements rather than marketing words, and that standard carries into the boards: precise forming and quality control measured in single boards, not shipping containers. It's the difference you feel in the balance — and one more claim we can back with documentation.

Frequently asked questions

What is the other side made of?
Titanium. Both sides are the same solid 100% Grade 1 commercially pure metal, and both sides are cutting surfaces. No wheat straw, no composite back, no coating.
Is "wheat straw" plastic?
Yes. Wheat straw board material is polypropylene with plant fiber filler. It is marketed as natural, but it is a plastic and it cuts like one.
Does it hold smells or stains?
No. The surface is non-porous, so juice and odor sit on top and rinse away. Garlic, beets and raw chicken wash off completely, in seconds.
Will it develop grooves like plastic?
No. It picks up light cosmetic knife marks, because titanium is softer than hardened blade steel, but the metal is non-porous: nothing opens up, nothing soaks in, and nothing sheds.
Is it dishwasher safe?
Yes, every wash, for life. There is no plastic side to warp and no coating to protect, so the dishwasher promise actually holds.
What does the research on plastic boards actually say?
It measured particles shedding from plastic boards during normal chopping. What those particles do in the body is still being studied, and we do not claim outcomes. We claim composition: there is no plastic in this cutting surface, on either side.
Where are these boards made?
In Japan, by titanium specialists. Japan runs the most demanding titanium industry in the world. Its mills supply the aerospace and medical fields, where purity and precision are checked, not claimed. Our boards are handcrafted within that industry, and like everything else on this page, the origin is documented.
